The Bachelor of Education programme ,generally known as B.Ed is a professional course that prepares teachers for upper primary or middle level (classes VI-VIII),secondary level(classes-X),and senior secondary level(classes XI-XII)

Duration of the course

The B.Ed Programme shall be of a duration of two academic years, which can be completed in a maximum of three years from the date of admission to the programme

Medium of Instruction:

The medium of instruction shall be English. Working days: There shall be at least 200 working days each year exclusive of the period of examination and admission.

Eligibility

Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in Bachelor’s degree

(i.e., B.Sc., B.Com, B.A ) or Master’s degree in Sciences/Social sciences/Humanity.

Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with fifty five percent marks or any other equivalent qualification thereto, are eligible to the programme.

Admission procedure

Admission shall be made on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and or in the entrance examination or any other selection process as per the policy of the Telangana state government and Osmania University.

General Rules and regulations

Students shall strictly comply with the rules and regulations of the college from time to time relating to their studies, examination, conduct and discipline.

The students who secure admission on the basis of false certificate /marks sheet or on the basis of any misinterpretation of fact or any matter not revealed at the time of their admission shall be summarily cancelled and all fees paid by him or her shall be forfeited .Legal action will also be taken against them.

In case the candidate fails to submit the required documents admission shall be treated as cancelled and no request for refund of fees will be entertained under any circumstances.

If the applicant is employed, employers no objection certificate with proof of leave should be submitted at the time of admission.

About the B.Ed., programme

The course structure offers a comprehensive coverage of themes and rigorous field engagement with the child, school and community. The programme is comprised of three broad inter-related curricular areas – I) Perspectives in Education, II) Curriculum and Pedagogic Studies, and III) Engagement with the Field. All the courses include in-built field-based units of study and projects along with theoretical inputs from an interdisciplinary perspective. Engagement with the Field is the curricular component that is meant to holistically link all the courses across the programme, while it also includes special courses for Enhancing Professional Capacities (EPC) of the student teachers. Transaction of the courses is to be done using a variety of approaches, such as, case studies, group presentations, projects, discussions on reflective journals, observations of children, and interactions with the community in multiple socio cultural environments.

About the D. Ed programme

• D.Ed. with an intake of 50 students per year The Diploma in Elementary Teacher Education, generally known as D.Ed is a professional course that prepares teachers for primary and upper primary (classes I-V).
